I’ve gotten obsessed these past few weeks with trying to capture in clay the quick gesture of Japanese sumi-e ink brush paintings of birds. It’s an awful lot of fun, with varying levels of success. The first few pieces out of the kiln in this series sold immediately, so I suspect something’s going right. As I say every day, ”Every pot I throw is a rough draft for the next one,” and I certainly feel that way about these new bird pieces.
