The clay “sketch” of a crow leaning deep into this vase was inspired by a Japanese sumi-e ink brush painting of a large crow leaning down low over a branch.  It was also inspired by the fable of the smart crow who couldn’t reach what he wanted floating on water deep in the bottom of a barrel, so he patiently filled the barrel with stones until the height of the water was raised enough that he could reach his floating prize.  In addition to ALL OF THAT, there is a lovely impression of Mountain Laurel leaves and berries on the side of this vaguely Danish-Modern shaped vase.  Woah.  10.5” tall by 4.75” wide.
