This large chubby jar is adorned with imprinted rose leaves arranged in a formal, upstanding, respectable pattern around its base. But it is topped with two hand-sculpted clay love-birds on its lid who show no regard for formality at all. The glaze didn’t behave in a formal way in the kiln, either, deciding to burn out a dark brown on the rose leaves, and in antiqued splotches everywhere else.
A truly unique piece in amber/oxide/black. I might use it for storing rice. Just a thought. 9″ tall by 8″ diameter.
