In the heat of Virginia’s late summer, I made a set of five canisters adorned with water hemlock leaves and berries. I topped each jar with a ball and a clay sketch of a bird. Each piece works on its own as an independent piece of art, but because of the varying gestures and postures of the birds, they are even more charming in pairs, triplets or more.  This medium-sized canister features a bird looking skyward and a double row of berries.  8″ to tip of bird’s beak by 5″ diameter.
