I was inspired to make these pottery luminaries by the shapes of Japanese paper lanterns. It’s hard to see in the photo, but there are bamboo-like leaf impressions in the red-glazed shoulders of these pots that echo the cut-out leaf forms in the body of the pots which allow your candle or battery-operated twinkle lights to shine out in the darkness. I have two that match, and one that has leaf-pattern on the lid as well, and which I’ve painted red on the interior.
These were such a pain in the neck to make (truth be told) that I will not be taking orders. The three I’ve made are the only three I’ll ever make. I LOVE them, but boy…. Each is 10.5″ tall by 8.5″ diameter. – ONE SOLD/ ONE AVAILBLE
