I just love this platter. I really like the form of the Indian Cucumber plant, and the very subtle touch of red berries where the plant would fruit after flowering. But, as you will read in further entries in the seconds sale section, platters and I don’t get along. After you’ve thrown a platter on a bat (a removable disc placed on the wheel head), you pull a wire under the thrown piece, against the surface of the bat to cut it from the bat. No biggie. Done it tens of thousands of times. This time, however, my mind wasn’t focused where it should have been (can everybody relate during these strange times??) and as I pulled the wire under the platter, I pulled up and cut through the foot and rim. Now, I must admit, I should have thrown the piece out at that point, but I liked it too much and tried to save it. It turned out much better than I thought it would, except for a sharp-edged crack in the bottom (see additional photo). This is not a platter for using, because that crack is sharp. It is a platter for displaying, because the front is lovely, and when placed on a plate stand, nobody needs to know about the crack. 13″ in diameter, 1.5″ deep. Regular Price: $420; Second Price: $200.
SOLD!!!! I WILL TAKE ORDERS THROUGH THE WEEKEND FOR THIS PLATTER AT A 30% DISCOUNTED PRICE OF $294.
