This lidded jar is dramatic, with bold red and black fields, a sharp shoulder, and a small sculpted owl perched on a branch as the knob. Unfortunately (you were waiting for this, weren’t you?), when I pulled it out of the glaze firing, there was a tiny crack in the bottom that goes all the way through. The piece cannot hold liquids (not that most people would put liquids in this anyway, but a crack does render it a second). The fern variety in the red frieze is a Christmas fern. Just letting you know. 11.5″ tall by 9.5″ diameter. Regularly, $495; Second, $150.
THIS PIECE HAS SOLD. I WILL TAKE ORDERS THROUGH AUGUST 2ND TO MAKE A NEW VERSION AT 30% OFF, OR $346.50.
