An exquisite lamp in moss green celadon with two vines of Virginia Creeper winding around its base.  Red clay “berries” accent the piece.  The hand-pressed churchkey pattern at base and shoulder is treated with a red iron-oxide wash, giving a slightly metallic cast to contrast with the glossy glaze.  The shade, made for Suzanne Crane by Sue Johnson, in Berkeley, CA, of Sue Johnson Lamps and Shades, is light mica with pepper-tree leaves decoupaged on the interior.  This photo shows the “glow” from the light as more yellow than it will be naturally;  the shade “reads” as more white and green than yellow.   24″ tall to tip of finial by 19″ from corner to corner of the octagonal shade.
