Ukrainian Ceramic Whistle: Moon Cow
Slava Ukraini! In an effort to support Ukraine’s independent artisans and small shops, I have brought in a variety of hand-made craft directly from Ukraine. Olga Otnyakina-Berdnyk works in Cherkasy, Ukraine. She has worked in clay for over 20 years making penny-whistles for children, based on Ukrainian folk-lore, but more often than not, these are collected as interior sculpture for adults.
Moon Cow (a female symbol) is rendered in lush purples and metallic gold. Make no mistake: this is not a child’s toy!
8” by 8” x 3” (larger than one would think for a whistle!)
